A modern myth about twin sisters who sojourn from the Dirty South to the California desert to exact righteous revenge.
Venus
The play chronicles the unexpected—and devastating—rise to fame of Baartman, who traveled from southern Africa to London in search of a better life, but became known as “Hottentot Venus” and paraded on the freak-show circuit because of her large buttocks. The play also details her relationship with a French scientist, before dying in 1815 where her body is then studied by said scientist.
The Visit
An enormously wealthy older woman returns to her former hometown with a dreadful bargain: she wants the townspeople to kill the man who got her pregnant, then jilted her. In exchange, she will provide enough money to revitalize the decrepit town.
